Val Gardena is a valley of the Dolomites located in the northwestern section of South Tyrol stretching for 25 km between Ponte Gardena and the Sella Group. First class hospitality and state of the art hotels make Val Gardena a renowned tourist destination in every season, but especially in winter. The three municipalities, Ortisei, Selva Val Gardena and Santa Cristina, are characterized by a strong Ladin tradition and hotels able to meet the needs of the many tourists.
Val Gardena is the most famous valley of South Tyrol and is surrounded by the Gardena Dolomites, enlisted by UNESCO as World Heritage Site. Val Gardena is connected to the other valleys through the mountain passes Sella and Gardena. In summer a favorite holiday destination for its many trekking trails and vie ferrate, Val Gardena is appreciated mainly for its ski runs, for the Sellaronda ski tour and for the state of the art uphill facilities. Val Gardena is included in the Dolomiti Superski ski domain and its slopes host international competitions. Besides skiing, Val Gardena is famous also for its wood sculptures.
